Parent Coaching
I have supported clients as a parent coach/consultant for over 25 years. My approach is directive and collaborative.
I spend quite a bit of time getting to know you and what brings you to parent coaching before offering ideas and suggestions. When you work with me, the work is not only what happens in session that week. There is a lot that happens at home and throughout the week, between sessions.
I am trained in many modalities. Our sessions will most often be grounded in ideas and methods drawn from The Neufeld Institute, AEDP, Hand-In-Hand Parenting and Playful Parenting.
My areas of specialty:
1. I help new parents, often couples, learn and come into their own identities as parents, and discern how to be on the “same team,” moving forward together, feeling solid in their connection as parents.
2. I support parents of highly sensitive children and/or parents who are highly sensitive themselves.
3. I help parents with children who struggle with ADHD and sensory challenges.
4. I support parents of toddlers and preschoolers.
5. I help parents who recognize that without exploring how they themselves were parented, they are most likely going to default into parenting their own children in a similar way. Helping them to explore this in depth and distill what they would like to consciously keep, and what they want to leave in the past. In this way, we create space for new, intentional and conscious ways of doing things to emerge.
How parent coaching with me works:
Every session, I will engage with you around what you may have tried since our last session, exploring what went well and what did not. We will explore how you can modify or brainstorm new options until we find a parenting path that works and feels sustainable to you.
I will teach you as much as I can about the “why” underneath whatever I am suggesting. I think this is helpful towards supporting you in having the most knowledge you can in understanding your children and their behavior.
With my support, you grow and deepen in confidence as a parent and have the tools to take the work to new levels in your own in the future.
Fees/Rates:
I am happy to discuss my fee in our initial phone call. I strongly believe parent coaching should be accessible to everyone and thus a portion of my practice is done on a need-based sliding scale. These spots are often full, but I do keep a waiting list, and you are always welcome to ask.
Please note that not all insurance providers will reimburse for parent coaching sessions. It is up to you to speak with your insurance directly. In cases where it is indeed covered, I am happy to provide you with a Superbill that you may submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement.
